Summertime is a popular time to cool off at public swimming pools on Long Island. Still, when the kids are bored with the municipal pool down the street and the beach seems like too much work, there are few better ways to stay cool on Long Island this summer than by heading down a slippery water slide, splashing around, or getting soaked at a waterpark.
That is why we have compiled a list of the coolest spots for Long Island families to spend the hottest summer days.
North Woodmere Park — Valley Stream
Monday-Friday: 11am-1pm | Saturday, Sunday, Holidays: 1pm-7pm (Nassau County Residents Only)
A favorite place to cool off in the summer, North Woodmere Park has not one, but three water features for young swimmers: a wading pool, a training pool, and an interactive water play area. There is an Olympic-sized pool, a diving pool, and a huge water slide everyone can enjoy.
Bayville Adventure Park — Bayville
Monday-Thursday & Sunday: 11am-9pm | Friday, Saturday: 11am-10pm
Check out the Island’s most popular amusement attractions in Bayville! The park is across the street from the Long Island Sound. The Bayville Adventure Park also offers pirate-themed mini-golf, rock-climbing walls, an arcade, and a funhouse, in addition to a bumper-boat safari course and a water balloon attraction.
Shipwreck Cove Spray Park — Bay Shore
June 27 – September 7: 10 am-5:45 pm, Seven days a week
Shipwreck Cove Spray Park, located near the marina, is a popular place to cool off during the summer months. There is a large play structure with slides, sprayers, and a rope climb. The giant water bucket always sends kids into a frenzy. As the pool is shallow, it is perfect for toddlers.
Wantagh Park — Wantagh
Monday-Friday: 10am-12pm | Saturday, Sunday, Holidays: 10am-6pm (Nassau County Residents Only)
The entire family will enjoy spending the day at this swimming complex, which offers water amenities for all tastes and abilities, from an Olympic-sized pool to a diving pool to a kiddie pool to a training pool. Two 30-foot water slides are available, as well as a play area for the little ones.
Adventureland — Farmingdale
Sunday-Thursday: 11am-10pm | Friday & Saturday: 11am-10:30pm
This venerable amusement park on Long Island also features three exciting water rides in addition to its roller coasters and Ferris wheels. The Adventure Falls flume ride is a favorite of older kids with twists, curves, and a high-speed drop, while the Little Dipper is a small flume ride for kids ages 3 and under. Rescue Boats allow riders to navigate on the water while keeping a lookout for “crocs.”
Cantiague Park — Hicksville
Monday-Friday: 10am-12pm | Saturday, Sunday, Holidays: 10am-6pm (Nassau County Residents Only)
This outdoor swimming facility is hugely popular with Nassau County residents and is open for the season! Among its features are an Olympic-sized pool, a diving pool, a training pool, and a kiddie pool for little ones, as well as a water play area and two water slides. What more could a family possibly need?
Of course, many of these pools are only open to residents of Nassau County, which is a beautiful county on Long Island just waiting for new residents to call it home. Are you looking for a property on Long Island? Contact Lynx Mortgage Bank LLC today to get started on your mortgage application.
